MBA Covid19 Regular Update

Updated: Aug 27, 2021

Maitland Basketball continues to work closely with Basketball NSW, who in turn are in regular contact with Basketball Australia, NSW Office of Sport, NSW Health and other government agencies as we plan for the full return of basketball to Maitland.

Our localised plan for the return of basketball in Maitland is in line with the Federal Governments National Principals for the Resumption of Sport, the AIS Framework for Rebooting Sport in a Covid-19 Environment with Basketball Australia’s Return to Basketball Guidelines providing a strong reference point.

We continue to develop practical working guidelines for our members to be able to participate safely. We recommend all participants read Social Distancing & Hygiene Considerations for Basketball and Sport Activities in a Stadium.

Maitland Basketball would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of our members for their patience and support during this time. Please continue to take all necessary measures to help our community remain safe, and give us the best chance to return to community sport as soon as possible.

If there are places associated with a confirmed COVID-19 case in the past 14 days, they will be listed on the NSW Government website HERE

Locations are generally removed 14 days the last known date that a confirmed case was associated with the location.

Stay-at-home restrictions for regional NSW Restrictions will apply to all of regional NSW until, Friday10th September 2021.

This means the whole of NSW will be under stay-at-home restrictions during this period.

During this time, Maitland Basketball will remain closed to the public. Please direct any enquiries you may have during this time to one of the following contacts:

MBA will update this page regularly, however, given the dynamic nature of this situation, members are also encouraged to stay up to date on NSW Government advice at: https://www.nsw.gov.au/covid-19

Based on previous experience in NSW and the actions of other states in the current outbreak, we can expect that the current restrictions will be eased gradually and that community sport is likely to remain under some restriction longer than other community activities.

There are 3 adjustment options for each of our programs:

MBA will update this section of our website advising our community if any events have been cancelled or likely to be cancelled subject to NSW Government rulings.

At the moment we are factoring in several circumstances that are fluid and constantly changing as well several unknowns. We will make decisions about the status of each program when there are changes to the NSW Health Public Health Orders

Currently, the status of MBA programs and events is as follows.

Please note that if you are expecting to attend an event at our facility, for a program or event run by an external provider (ie school, Hunter Futsal), please make contact with the event organiser regarding the status of your event.

Previously Basketball NSW have offered a Covid-19 discount on the following year’s membership for extended shutdowns of our sport. BNSW to advise how this will be addressed once we emerge from these stay-at-home orders as either an extension of existing memberships or discounts on next year’s membership.

Maitland Basketball is currently working in a policy and procedure for credits / refunds for all members affected by a shortened or cancelled event or program. Details of these will be released as soon as they are available.
